There are two scheduled Roads2Laos tours at this time.  LuangPrabang  charms all arriving travelers.   This ancient capital of Laos sits on the banks of the mighty Mekong RiverPhousi Mountain overlooks the surrounding countryside.  Wat Xiengthong is home to many Buddhist monks.  Small rivers to Kuangsi Waterfall and the Pak Ou CaveMinority villages to Khamu Village on the Nam Ou river.  Tour 1 begins in Bangkok, Thailand.  Tour 2 begins in Hanoi, Vietnam.

About Laos - Land of Simple Beauty - Land of Charm .....

Laos is the Jewel of the Mekong, and the ancient kingdom of the Million Elephants.  It became the Popular Democratic Republic Lao in 1975.  The Annamitic mountain range crosses the north-west region while the Mekong river divides Laos with Thailand and Myanmar in the West.  The Mekong River is the heart of the country. 

Laos has 14,000 km of road, 80% of which are not asphalted.  Laos is the least populated country in SE Asia, with only 6M inhabitants.  The upper regions of this beautiful country claim 80% of the population.  The Popular Democratic Republic Lao is one of popular democracy. 

The largest economy of Laos is agriculture which provides a living for 80% of the population.  The principal crop is rice, but corn, tobacco, cotton and coffee are also grown.  Livestock is concentrated around cattle, buffalo and pigs.  Laos sells electricity to Thailand.  May to October is the rainy season. 

Laos has a rich array of historical, cultural and Eco destinations.  Laos PDR is hosts a World Heritage City - Luang Prabang, and the world historical site - Wat Phou Champasack.  One of nature's playgrounds is found around Vang Vieng.  Vientiane is the capital of Laos sitting just across the Freedom Bridge on the Mekong from Nong Khai, Thailand.

The wild life in Laos is one of the most abundant and varied of all Asian countries.  Wild elephants, fresh water dolphins, leopards, black bears, tigers and more.  Theravada Buddhism and annimism exist side by side.  The Lao people believe in 'Phi' which means spirit, soul, ghost.  There are more than 50 ethnic groups.  Markets are numerous all over Laos.  There is 'Talat That Luang' behind the famous Stupa That Luang and its exotic products.  Laos is an intrepid explorers paradise.
